About Me

“Belong and Thrive”

Stéphanie Severs – Psychologist

As a therapist, I strive to create a welcoming and supportive space where warmth, and genuine care guide every interaction. I help clients navigate their journeys with compassion, trust and a good sense of humor.

I strongly believe that mental health care is an essential part of personal well-being, just like any other form of self-care. Through therapy, we can unlock our full potential, strengthen our resilience, and (re)build our sense of belonging. This process is unique to each individual, focussing on both the mind and behavior to foster personal growth.

I am a Brazilian psychologist with a background in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Psychoanalysis (Freud-Lacan), both of which I have practiced clinically and experienced personally as a patient. I hold a Dutch master’s degree in Clinical Psychology – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and a specialization in Psychoanalysis. More recently, I have expanded my training to include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

On a personal note, my family is multicultural, I’m married and together with my husband I have a family with three children, of which two are neuroatypical. In challenging times I also reach out to psychologists to further develop myself and accept a given situation. Or just to be heard and have a safe space to gain clarity over my thoughts and feelings.

Through my professional and personal experience, I have come to understand that a sense of belonging is fundamental to happiness and a fulfilling life. Scientific research consistently highlights the powerful impact of relationships on our well-being. This shows that strong social connections, whether through friendships, family ties, or community involvement, are key to our emotional health. This is why the social and family environment are a focus point in my approach.

Since moving to the Netherlands in 2017, I have been dedicated to supporting immigrants from around the world as they settle in a new country. Whether they are alone or with their families, navigating the challenges of daily life remains difficult. Experiencing this myself has deepened my commitment to helping individuals find stability, connection, and meaning in their personal journeys.
